What Makes a Quality PTE Course in Bangladesh Stand Out?

PTE coaching in Bangladesh has expanded significantly over the past decade. Dhaka alone now has multiple coaching centres across areas like Dhanmondi, Uttara, Mirpur, and Banani.
Trainer Credentials: What to Look For
The most meaningful credential a PTE trainer can have in Bangladesh is Pearson certification. Pearson, which produces and scores PTE Academic, provides formal professional development courses and module certificates for teachers through its PTE Teacher Hub programme.
A course that lets students sit the exam before they are ready does not hurt the centre; it costs the student time, money, and sometimes a visa deadline.
Beyond Pearson certification, it is reasonable to ask a trainer what their own PTE score is. A trainer who has personally achieved 79 or above has direct experience of what the AI scoring system rewards and penalises. That is different from someone who teaches PTE based on general English teaching knowledge.
The August 2025 Format Change Is a Real Test of Course Currency
From 7 August 2025, Pearson added two new speaking question types to PTE Academic: Summarise Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation.
In the Summarise Group Discussion, students listen to a three-minute conversation between three people, then speak a two-minute summary of the key points. In Respond to a Situation, students listen to and read a real-life scenario and must give a natural spoken response within 40 seconds.
These two tasks now bring the total question types in PTE Academic from 20 to 22, and the test duration has been extended to around two hours and 15 minutes.
Revise to clarify that human scoring now applies across several tasks, and that both new tasks are among those subject to human review. The templated-response flagging applies across the expanded human-review tasks, not only the two new ones.
So when evaluating any PTE Academic preparation course in Bangladesh, ask directly: Does your curriculum cover Summarise Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation? What specific strategies do you teach them? A course that cannot answer that question clearly is not keeping pace with the current exam.
Batch Size and Individual Feedback Matter More Than Class Hours
Many courses advertise their total training hours as a selling point. But 50 hours of instruction in a batch of 30 students is a very different experience from 30 hours with a batch of 8 to 10 students, where the trainer can hear your speaking responses and give direct feedback on fluency and pronunciation.
The value of real-time, personalised feedback is especially clear in the speaking section. PTE Speaking is scored by AI on oral fluency and pronunciation, two things that are difficult to improve without someone pointing out exactly where your rhythm breaks or where you are inserting unnecessary pauses.
A good course will have a process for this. Whether it is individual trainer feedback, AI-scored mock tests with detailed section reports, or both, you want a course that tells you what is specifically wrong with your responses, not just whether your overall score went up or down.
AI-Scored Mock Tests
A quality course in Bangladesh will give you access to AI-scored mock tests that replicate the actual test environment. These are not the same as generic online practice questions. They use the same scoring logic that Pearson's system uses, and they give you a breakdown of your performance by section and, in some cases, by individual task type.
What you should look for is not just how many mocks are included but whether you receive a detailed performance breakdown after each one. A mock test that only gives you a total score is far less useful than one that shows you your Listening score dropped in Write From Dictation, your Speaking score was lower on Repeat Sentence, and your Writing score dipped in the essay.
Online vs In-Person: Which One Works Better in Bangladesh?
In-person coaching, particularly at centres with computer lab facilities, has the advantage of simulating the actual exam environment more closely. PTE is a computer-based exam, and students who have never practised on a computer with a headset and microphone sometimes experience additional anxiety on test day simply from the unfamiliar setup.
Online courses, now offered by most major centres including ACE Language and PEC-Education, offer flexibility for students outside Dhaka, those with work or university commitments, and anyone in Chittagong or regional areas who cannot make a daily commute to a Dhaka centre.
